FAQs

Q) Why lever nut terminals?

A) Lever nut terminals are built for high vibration industrial and automotive applications. They are better than traditional ring terminal and tab terminal connections for several reasons:

  • Easier and faster to connect / disconnect the circuit
  • Fit wires from 24 gauge to 10 gauge
  • More reliable – ring and tab terminals are prone to metal fatigue / breaking at the crimp
  • Takes less space / higher density
  • Spring automatically adjusts to handle any gradual deformation in the wire, keeping a constant grip
  • No screws or nuts to back out or vibrate loose

Q) Is there a way to see if a fuse is blown?

A) Yes – there are special fuses with an LED that glows if / when the fuse blows. These are available for a small premium over standard fuses and can be found online and at some auto parts stores. You can mix and match – use “Smart Glow” indicator fuses for flight-critical circuits and regular fuses for lower priority circuits.

Q) Where should I mount the BusBox in my aircraft?

A) The BusBox is small – about 7″ x 4″ x 1″ – so it can go just about anywhere. Ideally you would mount it someplace where it is accessible during flight. This can be a completely open location – perhaps on a console pedestal between the pilot and co-pilot – or out of sight behind a door on the main panel.
